Meet Samantha, an extraordinary 8-year-old filled with potential and big dreams. Samantha’s courage was overwhelmed by anxiety, and her parents were challenged to help her and their other child with autism. Samantha tried her best to communicate, follow directions, and manage night terrors. Her school added a paraprofessional to support her. Still, Samantha needed more.
The family enrolled in HSC’s program “Champion” and immediately met with a dedicated care manager who co-designed a comprehensive care plan, including school advocacy, finding a suitable school for the sibling, and applying for Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS). Together, they selected the best school for Samantha and secured 16 hours of weekly support for each child. Partnering with Progen, skilled and compassionate staff helped Samantha improve her verbal skills, peer interaction, emotional regulation, and social behavior. Today, both children have made remarkable strides. The parents are able to enjoy more family time and small trips together.
